The Nina is in Grand Cayman for the five month period between
January and May. In the upcoming Quincentennial Celebrations,
the Nina will be the Flag
Ship of Honor due to its historical significance.
The original Nina made three voyages to the "New World" with
Columbus and sailed on many other adventures; one of which was
disastrous when the Nina was captured by pirates. She was later
freed by the ship's captain and returned to her rightful owners.
This fascinating history has been recreated in stunning detail.
In 1988 the Columbus Foundation contracted skilled ship builders in
Brazil. Utilizing traditional tools and craftsmanship spanning back
500 years they built this
incredible ship for everyone's enjoyment today. The Nina is 93.6
feet long overall, 66 feet long on deck, with a beam of 17.3 feet
and can accommodate up to 50 passengers.
